WHAT IS IT?
Stevia In The Raw® is a zero–calorie* sweetener, which consists of stevia extract and a bulking agent (dextrose or maltodextrin). The stevia is extracted from the sweetest part of the stevia plant leaf (stevia rebaudiana Bertoni). It is then purified to create a sweetener that is 300 to 400 times sweeter than cane sugar. Because the stevia leaf extract is so pure and sweet, it requires blending with a bulking agent so that it can be conveniently measured, poured and used as a substitute for sugar or other caloric sweeteners.
In our Packet Product, the pure stevia leaf extract is blended with dextrose, a carbohydrate derived from corn, to produce the zero-calorie sweetener we call Stevia InThe Raw®.
In our cup-for-cup Bakers Bag product, pure stevia leaf extract is co-dried with maltodextrin, a carbohydrate derived from corn, to produce a zero-calorie sweetener that matches the sweetness and measurement of sugar “cup for cup” for recipes.

Stevia In The Raw® gets its delicious sweetness from the stevia plant leaf. The stevia plant is native to South America and has been used indigenously as a sweetener for over 400 years. Stevia is now grown and harvested all over the world. It has also been vastly popular in Japan for more than six decades, now representing 41% of that country’s sugar substitute market. Stevia leaf extract is found as an ingredient in many products, such as ice cream, bread, and soft drinks, throughout Asia, South America, and the world.

Unlike some of our competitors, Stevia In The Raw® derives virtually all its sweetness from stevia leaf extract, whereas some of the other stevia-based products contain sugar alcohols, such as erythritol. The high purity level of our stevia leaf extract eliminates the aftertaste found in some less pure Stevia products currently in the market.
Dextrose is a carbohydrate derived from corn. Many sugar substitutes in powder form contain dextrose because it is an ingredient that does not change the flavor of the sweetener in the blend. In our packet product, dextrose is used to dilute the very potent stevia leaf extract to make it measurable for consumers; dextrose does not alter the sweet flavor of the Stevia.
Maltodextrin, like dextrose, is a carbohydrate derived from corn. Many “cup-for-cup” and other sugar substitutes in powder form contain maltodextrin because it is an ingredient that does not change the flavor of the sweetener in the blend. In our Bakers Bag product, maltodextrin is used to dilute the very potent stevia leaf extract to make it measurable for consumers in “cup-for-cup” sweetening equivalency as a sugar replacement; it does not alter the sweet flavor of the Stevia.

HOW TO USE IT
Add it to your coffee, tea, latte, or any other beverage. One packet of Stevia In The Raw® has the sweetness equivalence of two teaspoons of table sugar. Sprinkle it over cereal or fruit, like strawberries and blueberries. You can also blend Stevia In The Raw® with fruit and skim milk or yogurt to make a delicious and healthy, low–calorie smoothie. It’s also delicious in oatmeal, lemonade, and barbecue rub seasonings.
Stevia In The Raw® Bakers Bag sweetener makes it easy to replace the sweetness of sugar with the sweetness of stevia by using the same measured volume. One cup of Stevia In The Raw® Cup For Cup is as sweet as one cup of sugar.
In recipes for sweetened sauces and beverages, all the sugar can be replaced with Stevia In The Raw®. However, recipes for most baked goods require sugar for proper volume and texture. For best results, experiment by substituting half the amount of sugar in a recipe with the sweetening equivalence of Stevia In The Raw®. Stevia In The Raw® is heat stable, so it is perfect for use in cooking and baking.
The Stevia In The Raw® Bakers Bag product is equal to sugar in sweetness when measured by volume (such as in a measuring cup). Yes, Stevia In The Raw® is appropriate for vegan diets. No animal by-products are used in the manufacture of Stevia In The Raw®. It does not contain any animal by-products.
Yes. Stevia In The Raw® can easily be incorporated into the diets of people with diabetes. Stevia In The Raw® packets contain less than one gram of carbohydrates (by food exchange measure) and may be used in conjunction with food programs for people with diabetes as well as with guidelines for people with diabetes who use carbohydrate counting. People with diabetes are advised to check with their registered dietitian or physician.
Glycemic Index (GI) is a measure of how fast carbohydrate foods are metabolized into glucose and thus affect the blood sugar levels. Most sugar substitutes contain a very small amount of carbohydrates and are not classified as foods. Assigning a GI value to a sugar substitute is not a proper use of the GI concept. The Glycemic Load (GL) is a more appropriate concept for sugar substitutes.
