WHAT IS IT?
Organic Stevia In The Raw® consists of stevia extract and a carrier (organic cane sugar). The stevia is extracted from the sweetest part of the stevia plant leaf (stevia rebaudiana Bertoni). It is then purified to create a sweetener that is 300 to 400 times sweeter than cane sugar. Because the stevia leaf extract is so pure and sweet, it requires blending with a bulking agent or carrier so that it can be conveniently measured, poured and used as a substitute for sugar or other caloric sweeteners.

Organic Stevia In The Raw® gets its delicious sweetness primarily from the stevia plant leaf. The stevia plant is native to South America and has been used indigenously as a sweetener for over 400 years. Stevia is now grown and harvested all over the world. It has also been vastly popular in Japan for more than six decades, now representing 41% of that country’s sugar substitute market. Stevia leaf extract is found as an ingredient in many products, such as ice cream, bread, and soft drinks, throughout Asia, South America, and the world.

Many sugar substitutes in powder form use various ingredients to dilute the very potent stevia leaf extract. In Organic Stevia In The Raw®, we chose to blend with sugar in order to develop a packet that has the sweetening equivalence of two teaspoons of sugar, but only 3 calories per packet. (For comparison, 2 tsp. of sugar contains 32 calories).

HOW TO USE IT
Add it to your coffee, tea, latte, or any other beverage. One packet of Organic Stevia In The Raw® has the sweetness equivalence of two teaspoons of table sugar. Sprinkle it over cereal or fruit, like strawberries and blueberries. You can also blend Organic Stevia In The Raw® with fruit and skim milk or yogurt to make a delicious and healthy, low–calorie smoothie. It’s also delicious in oatmeal, lemonade, and barbecue rub seasonings.
Organic Stevia In The Raw® has a shelf life of approximately three years when stored under cool and dry conditions. Exposure to high humidity and/or temperatures may result in caking, but the product is still safe to consume.
Organic Stevia In The Raw® is available in a 600-count mini-stick box and a 40-count packet box.

Organic Stevia In The Raw® is made from highly pure stevia leaf extracts. This pure extract naturally contains several sweet compounds including great tasting Reb A and Reb D.
Each packet or mini-stick (.8 gram) of Organic Stevia In The Raw® has less than 1 gram (0% DV) of carbohydrates and less than 3 calories, which the FDA considers dietetically zero calories per serving.
No animal by-products are used in the manufacture of Organic Stevia In The Raw®. It does not contain any animal by-products and certified vegan by the Vegan Action Organization (Vegan.org).
Stevia In The Raw® contains a very small amount (about 0.75g) of organic cane sugar. The American Diabetes Association advises individuals with diabetes that consumption of small amounts of carbohydrates are acceptable when consumed with a meal and are part of a healthy diet. While most health professionals regard the consumption of sugar substitutes as suitable for diabetics we do recommend that individuals with diabetes consults their physicians or health professionals to determine if Organic Stevia In The Raw® can be part of their diet.
It is generally accepted that Glycemic Index is not an appropriate measure for tabletop sweeteners. This is because these products are used to replace and thus reduce the intake of nutritive sweeteners which have a high GI. The measure used for tabletop sweeteners is the Glycemic Load (GL) which the GI multiplied by the amount of food. The GL of Organic Stevia In The Raw® is very low compared to the two teaspoons (10g) of sugar each packet or stick replaces.
